$50K Reward Offered For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Struck Elderly Woman Near USC

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — City leaders Thursday offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run suspect wanted for critically injuring an elderly woman.

The reward for the incident that took place around 8 a.m. March 16 was announced at a 10:30 a.m. news conference.

The suspect, seen driving a silver late model Infiniti SUV with paper license plates, was driving eastbound on Adams Boulevard when he turned northbound onto Figueroa Street and collided with 87-year-old Barbara Summerfield who was walking in a marked crosswalk.

The driver then continued on Figueroa St. for about one block, made a U-turn and drove past the victim driving southbound, according to authorities.

He drive around the University of Southern California campus at a high rate of speed, and once ran a red light, police said.

Summerfield remains hospitalized with two broken legs, cracked ribs, pelvis fractures and head injuries.

A nearby security camera caught the crime on video.

A $15,000 reward was offered in the case earlier this week.
